Arya-2’s ‘Ringa Ringa’ goes to Bollywood
One of the most popular songs of all-time, Ringa-Ringa which was composed by Devi Sri Prasad for Arya-2 has found its place in Bollywood. That too in a Salman Khan’s film! Over the past few months, Salman Khan has been keeping an eye on the latest blockbusters in Telugu and Tamil. Currently he’s acting in three remakes – Bodyguard, Ready and remake of ‘Kick’. Recently, the first trailer of Ready starring Salman Khan and Asin was unveiled and it caught many by surprise when they heard that the background score of the film was quite similar to that of DSP’s Ringa Ringa. Pritam was credited as the music composer of the album, which led to several people alleging charges of plagiarism on Pritam, once again. Putting an end to the controversy, Bhushan Kumar, the producer of Ready has revealed that this song, ‘Dhinka Chika’ has infact been composed by Devi Sri Prasad himself.
Talking to a leading newspaper, Bhushan Kumar said that Salman Khan insisted that they used the same tune for one of the songs in ‘Ready’. Although, the rights of Arya-2 were with another music company, Bhushan Kumar convinced Devi Sri Prasad to compose a similar tune for Salman Khan’s film and the music director agreed. This would be Devi Sri Prasad’s first composition for a Hindi film. Wonder what the necessity was to not reveal DSP’s name right in the beginning! Whatever maybe the case, it would be an interesting turn of events for Devi Sri Prasad. After a dream run in Telugu and Tamil cinema, is it destination Bollywood for him?
